Origins

Robert Deuchar ran breweries both in Edinburgh and Newcastle upon Tyne in the 1890s. So his name has long been associated with the brewing world of Edinburgh.

If you're from outside Scotland, the pronunciation of Deuchars IPA may not come naturally, naturally. So to help you out, the advertising slogan “You're due a Deuchars” has been developed.

You know what they say about learning a new word: you just have to use it three times in its natural context. If you're keen to start, have a look at our Pub Finder.

“Deuchars IPA is a fabulous beer. A brilliant blend of malt and hop character and above all a drink with enormous drinkability.”
Roger Protz, Editor of the Good Beer Guide.
