Rhino & Hamster's Diary

21st March 2007

Hello All

I hope you all managed to watch the game yesterday against South Africa, what another fantastic experience that was for all of us. It was especially unique for me as I got to captain the side in Craig’s absence against the country of my upbringing. It was weird at the toss with Graeme Smith as I captained him when we were at school and made him carry my bags.

The South Africans were very professional and outstanding in the field and we learnt a lot from them. Unfortunately for me I was run out when I was feeling good at the crease and Gav did not get too many but all in all in was very proud day for me and one I will never forget. The evening was spent at a lovely little beach bar called The Shiggity Shack where a few beers were had with the South African team and friends from school.

Today there was an optional training session for the team at Warner Park – I did not go as I feel pretty good with my game and spent the day instead at the beach. Did some snorkelling, a little sunbathing and drank plenty of water so the batteries are nicely re-charged for tomorrow’s big game with the Dutch. It is expected that there will be big crowd for tomorrow as the locals have been given tickets and it has been declared a national holiday in St Kitts to commemorate Herschel Gibb’s hitting 6 x 6’s in one over against the Dutch.

It is big game for us and one we must win especially to give our travelling support something to cheer about as they have been magnificent at every game.

Anyway I am off to pack my bags and get a good nights rest

Speak soon

Ryan
